He was one of my very best friend and his loss has put a hole in my heart I will miss him greatly.
I just wanted to add what I said about him at his funeral as this tells you how I felt about him.
“I know if Jason was here today, his first thought would be “Oh No what is Chad going to say now.”
He knew I was outspoken, and just laid out what I thought with not much of a filter.
He was a rare person to me. But I want to tell you what made him so rare to me.
Jason and I would just be living life together. We would be on the phone for hours doing our own thing, not saying a word, just living life together.
Some how this was okay for both of us. We knew the other one was there for us. It was comforting to just be able to know they were there.
It a rare thing to have that type of relationship with someone, where you can just be silent and hang out.
You know you have a real friend when you have that type of relationship.
Another way you know they are a real friend is when the little things in life happen and you are doing this or that and you think, Oh I can’t wait to tell Jason about this.
Jason was one of those people to me.
Jason was a social guy he liked hanging out with everyone, and could get along with almost anyone.
Next time your playing a board game, or doing something you know he would have loved. Just remember him and smile and remember the fun and joy he brought into your life.
I will miss him so very much.”

The memory of sharing a quiet phone call conveys the comfort of this friendship without needing a dramatic story. Your invitation to contribute gallery photographs could also preserve those everyday moments. I run https://removeailabel.app, an image metadata tool, and suggest keeping original family photographs untouched, with names and dates recorded separately before any copies are prepared for a public gallery.

Your line about Jason thinking oh no what is Chad going to say now made me tear up, that is the kind of shorthand only decades of friendship earn. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for putting his funeral words here so the story lives beyond the people in that room.
nano banana 2.5
The way you describe Jason makes it clear how much the ordinary moments of that friendship meant to you. Photos like this become incredibly valuable with time. Even with tools like nano banana 2.5 making it easier to work with old images, sometimes the most meaningful thing is simply keeping the original photo exactly as you remember it.

The description of spending hours on the phone in comfortable silence feels especially intimate and rare. Did you and Jason have a particular routine, favorite place, or small everyday activity that made those quiet moments together so meaningful?
Rice Purity Test
The detail about spending hours on the phone without needing to fill the silence says more about the friendship than any list of qualities could. Being comfortable in that quiet is a rare kind of closeness.
